Pakistan may skip T20 World Cup clash with India

Published on: January 26, 2026 6:00 PM

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering boycotting its T20 World Cup match against India on February 15 in Colombo. The move comes after Bangladesh was removed from the tournament over security concerns. Sources said skipping the match would cost Pakistan only two points.

The PCB is exploring various options to protest Bangladesh’s exclusion from the World Cup. Sources added that the board could still participate in the tournament while keeping its options open regarding the India match. Officials are reviewing potential consequences for both the team and the ICC.

Not playing against India would cause a significant financial loss for the International Cricket Council (ICC), sources said. Analysts noted that such a boycott would be rare and could affect tournament revenues and broadcast deals. The ICC has not publicly commented on Pakistan’s possible decision.

Bangladesh had previously refused to play in India during the T20 World Cup, citing security concerns. The ICC relocated Bangladesh’s matches to Sri Lanka and replaced them with Scotland in the group stage. PCB sources say they are monitoring the situation closely before making a final call.
