Carlos Alcaraz defeats former world No.1 Novak Djokovic

Published on: February 2, 2026 6:00 PM

Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz defeated former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final. The thrilling four-set match secured Alcaraz’s career Grand Slam. At 22, he became the youngest male player to achieve this milestone in tennis history.

Alcaraz said winning all four Grand Slam titles has not reduced his passion. He added that his focus now is on reaching finals in upcoming Grand Slam tournaments. Despite his success, he avoids pressuring himself to win all major events in a single year.

Last year, Alcaraz defended his French Open title by defeating Jannik Sinner but lost at Wimbledon to an Italian opponent. He later defeated Sinner again at the US Open to win his sixth Grand Slam title. Analysts said his achievements show both skill and consistent mental strength under pressure.

Alcaraz explained that winning all four Grand Slams in one year is very challenging. He emphasized focusing on one tournament at a time, with the French Open currently his priority. He said careful preparation, hard work, and recovery are key to sustaining top performance.
