Mayor orders upkeep of cemetries on Shab-e-Barat

Published on: February 3, 2026 1:56 AM

Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has directed that citizens should not face any difficulty or obstruction while offering prayers at the graves of their loved ones on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. He stated that the pathways leading to cemeteries should be leveled and kept clean, cemeteries should be cleared of sewage water and waste, and proper arrangements for cleanliness, lighting, and water should be ensured both inside and outside the cemeteries. The Mayor further said that on the night of Shab-e-Barat, all municipal staff would be present in the cemeteries to ensure that citizens do not face any inconvenience and that their issues are addressed promptly. Additional measures will be taken wherever necessary, especially in areas facing sewage or waste-related problems. He emphasized that a large number of citizens visit cemeteries on Shab-e-Barat, and therefore, it is the responsibility of municipal authorities to provide them with appropriate facilities. Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) is making full arrangements in its managed cemeteries for Shab-e-Barat, and every effort is being made to ensure citizens have access to the best possible facilities.
