During the hearing, PTI leader Advocate Latif Khosa requested that he be allowed to meet Imran Khan. A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi refused the request, stating that the court could not pass any order without serving notice to the relevant authorities. The chief justice noted that the petition’s maintainability must first be clarified and highlighted that related cases were already pending in other courts. He observed that the case appeared ineffective, as it pertained to an order dated August 24, 2023.

Advocate Khosa reiterated his request to meet Imran Khan, to which the chief justice responded that a decision would be made tomorrow, after notices were issued. The hearing was subsequently adjourned until Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court ordered the formation of a three-member bench to hear appeals against Imran Khan’s acquittal in the cipher case. The bench will also consider appeals against the acquittal of former PTI foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the same case.
In related matters, the court dismissed the bail application of Imran Khan in the Al-Qadir Trust case, deeming it ineffective, and also rejected petitions seeking the cancellation of his bail. Similarly, petitions seeking cancellation of bail for Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case were dismissed as ineffective.

Additionally, the court ordered a three-member bench to hear petitions seeking the cancellation of Imran Khan’s bail in connection with the May 9 incidents in Lahore. The hearing on the cipher case and May 9 bail cancellation petitions was adjourned for two weeks.
These developments underscore the Supreme Court’s continued oversight of high-profile legal matters involving the PTI founder, as multiple cases and appeals proceed simultaneously.
