President Asif Ali Zardari extended heartfelt congratulations to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and the Iranian people on the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, highlighting deep-rooted brotherly ties between the two nations.

He emphasized that Pakistan and Iran share common history, culture, language, and geography, and expressed hope that the “spirit of brotherhood” would continue to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

Zardari also wished Supreme Leader Khamenei good health and prayed for progress and welfare for the Iranian people, reaffirming Pakistan’s support amid regional challenges and ongoing international tensions.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution of 1978–79 ended the monarchy of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and established the Islamic Republic, with clerical oversight at the core of the new political system after nationwide protests and strikes.

Amid the anniversary celebrations, Iran faces domestic unrest and international pressure, with ongoing US-Iran nuclear talks and concerns over possible military actions, while nationwide protests continue despite a heavy security crackdown on dissent.

President Zardari’s message reflects Pakistan’s diplomatic approach, underlining solidarity with Iran, and stresses the importance of regional dialogue, brotherhood, and cooperation in navigating political, economic, and security challenges effectively
