NUR Foundation holds dialogue on youth identity

Published on: February 18, 2026 1:11 AM

The NUR Foundation, an initiative of Fatima Memorial Hospital, organised an important session of the NUR Shanakht Speaker Series under the NUR Student Leadership Programme at Saida Waheed FMH College of Nursing. The session, titled “Our Identity: Who Are Our Heroes? Religious Scholars, Influencers, or Scientists”, explored the voices and role models shaping the perspectives of today’s youth.

The session was moderated by Ms. Maha Rehman, Co-Founder of the NUR Foundation, with Ahmed Rasheed playing a key role in facilitating the dialogue. The panel featured distinguished speakers from diverse backgrounds, including Ali Abbas, Journalist; Muhammad Moeed Naeem, Cultural Commentator and Podcast Host; and Dr. Umbreen Sajjad, Islamic Scholar. The panelists encouraged students to critically evaluate social influences and to build their identity on knowledge, research, and ethical values.

The discussion examined how young people in contemporary society choose their role models and how these choices influence their thinking, values, and sense of national identity. Speakers emphasized the importance of intellectual balance, critical thinking, and positive role models in fostering meaningful social development.

The session was attended by a large number of students and faculty members. According to the organizers, the NUR Shanakht Speaker Series aims to cultivate a culture of dialogue among youth and to encourage thoughtful reflection on identity, values, and social responsibility.
