School-specific budget details made available online

Published on: February 19, 2026 12:58 AM

Advancing transparency initiatives in Sindh, the details of the “School-Specific Budget” have been made available online. On the directives of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, the School Education Department, Government of Sindh, has for the first time made public the budget information of 34,106 schools across the province, uploading details of a total allocation of Rs. 18.6711 billion on the department’s official website.

The Sindh Education Minister stated that budget details are now accessible at division, district, taluka and school levels, enabling the public to directly access information. He said this initiative strengthens the Sindh Government’s fundamental right to access information and represents the practical implementation of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s manifesto, while also promoting transparent governance.

Syed Sardar Ali Shah further shared that QR codes have also been issued to ensure easy access to budget details, through which information of any school can be obtained within moments. He directed that the website link and QR codes be prominently displayed in offices and schools to further enhance public oversight and transparency.

According to him, the funds provided to schools will help address basic needs such as furniture, repair and maintenance, and wash facilities, while also being utilized for co-curricular activities, plantation, and other educational purposes.

He added that by making school budget details public, direct public monitoring has been incorporated into the system. After the release of budgets, an effective monitoring mechanism has been established through online and physical verification, while the utilization of funds will also be monitored digitally through a mobile application.

The Provincial Education Minister emphasized that strict accountability will be ensured in case of any misuse of school funds, so that resources are utilized in a proper and transparent manner. He also cautioned headmasters and headmistresses that they are fully empowered to resolve school-related issues and should perform their duties independently without yielding to any pressure.
