Top Iranian leaders reportedly killed in strike

Published on: February 28, 2026 9:15 PM

Israeli strikes on Iran reportedly killed Defense Minister Amir Nasirzadeh and Revolutionary Guards commander Mohammad Pakpour, according to a British news agency. The claim comes from two sources familiar with Israeli operations and a regional source. No official confirmation has yet been released.

The attacks targeted senior commanders and political officials of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. Reports indicate that multiple high-ranking personnel were killed in the strikes. The incidents follow coordinated US and Israeli military operations across Iranian cities. Iran has responded with its own missile and drone strikes across the region.

Iran named its retaliatory campaign “Operation Waada Sadiq 4.” Revolutionary Guards claimed they targeted multiple US military bases in the Gulf, including the Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. Additional strikes reportedly hit US bases in Qatar, United Arab Emirates, and Israeli military centers in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Iranian media reported that the Revolutionary Guards described the operation as a strike against US forces and Israel, calling them aggressors responsible for regional instability. Officials said missile and drone attacks would continue until threats to Iran are neutralized. The announcement signals that the conflict could escalate further across the Middle East.

Analysts warn that the death of senior Iranian commanders could intensify regional tensions. Global markets, particularly oil, may face volatility due to military escalation. Diplomatic channels remain open but fragile as both sides prepare for possible further attacks. The situation remains highly fluid and closely monitored by international observers.
