Maryam Nawaz chairs apex committee to strengthen Punjab security

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif convened a high-level meeting of the Provincial Apex Committee today to review law and order, assess terrorism threats, and evaluate overall security arrangements across the province. Officials emphasized the need for coordinated strategies to ensure public safety during the current tense regional environment.

The meeting, chaired by Maryam Nawaz, included senior civil and military officials who presented comprehensive briefings on intelligence updates, security protocols, and protection measures for sensitive installations across Punjab. Key challenges related to emerging threats were also highlighted during the discussion.

Participants examined existing surveillance systems and law enforcement performance, aiming to identify gaps and implement improvements. The committee deliberated on deploying additional resources, enhancing monitoring networks, and reinforcing response mechanisms to counter potential terrorist activities effectively.

Maryam Nawaz instructed all relevant departments to remain on high alert and intensify surveillance across critical urban centers and border areas. Emphasis was placed on proactive measures to prevent incidents rather than reactive responses to emerging security challenges.

The session also focused on coordinating civil-military operations to strengthen Punjab’s preparedness against terrorism and ensure uninterrupted public safety. Officials underscored the importance of timely intelligence sharing and inter-agency collaboration to maintain law and order.

The chief minister concluded the meeting by directing continuous assessment of security protocols and reinforcing accountability measures. Authorities assured the public that all necessary steps would be taken to preserve stability and protect communities throughout Punjab.
