The United Arab Emirates has announced a waiver of visa overstay fines for travelers and residents affected by flight suspensions and airspace closures amid ongoing regional tensions. Authorities aim to ease legal and financial burdens on those stranded.
Officials stated that the relief applies to holders of visit visas, tourist visas, or exit permits whose scheduled departures were delayed due to canceled or rescheduled flights. This step ensures travelers are not penalized for circumstances beyond their control.

The exemption also includes residents who had canceled their residency permits in preparation to leave the UAE but were prevented from traveling because of ongoing airspace restrictions. Authorities emphasized that such measures are exceptional and temporary.
The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security highlighted that the decision protects affected individuals while ensuring compliance with federal immigration policies. Authorities encouraged travelers to remain informed through official communication channels.
