DPM Dar meets UK envoy, calls for peace in Middle East

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met British High Commissioner Jane Marriott in Islamabad. Dar emphasized urgent de-escalation in the Middle East to ensure regional peace and security. The meeting affects Pakistani citizens living abroad and involved Commonwealth stakeholders.

Dar informed the envoy that he cannot attend the upcoming Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting due to the ongoing crisis. He highlighted the importance of restraint by all parties to prevent escalation. The meeting also focused on diplomatic coordination with friendly nations in the region.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has activated its Crisis Management Unit to assist Pakistani citizens stranded overseas. Special facilitation desks at embassies now provide visa assistance, accommodation, and travel arrangements. These measures ensure safe and timely repatriation amid Middle East tensions.

Additionally, the Ministry launched dedicated portals, mobile apps, and helplines to improve communication and support. Pakistani missions coordinate closely with host governments to ensure efficient consular services. With partial flight operations restored, commercial flights are now repatriating citizens safely.

Officials stressed that the safety and welfare of overseas Pakistanis remains a top priority. Authorities continue daily monitoring to manage risks and ensure uninterrupted assistance. The Ministry also provides emergency contacts on official websites and social platforms.
