PM Shehbaz, Kuwait discuss Middle East peace efforts

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled Al Hamad Al Sabah on Friday over the escalating Middle East crisis. The high-level telephonic discussion also covered bilateral cooperation and regional stability.

The Kuwaiti crown prince expressed full support for Pakistan’s mediation efforts between the United States and Iran, the PM Office said. Islamabad is reportedly preparing to host critical face-to-face talks to help de-escalate the regional conflict.

During the call, PM Shehbaz briefed the Kuwaiti leadership on Pakistan’s “sincere diplomatic efforts to end the Middle East war,” receiving appreciation for his leadership. Earlier, he had offered to host conclusive talks subject to US and Iran agreement.

The premier reiterated Pakistan’s “strong condemnation” of recent attacks on Kuwait and reaffirmed Islamabad’s solidarity with the Kuwaiti people. He offered prayers for victims and wished the injured a swift recovery.

The crown prince thanked PM Shehbaz for his letter of solidarity and expressed his desire to visit Pakistan once regional security improves. The call underscores Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East.
