Iran’s new regime seeks US ceasefire, Trump claims

Published on: April 1, 2026 7:28 PM

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Iran’s new leadership requested a ceasefire with Washington. The claim matters as tensions remain high and conflict risks expanding across the Middle East. The situation affects global security, oil markets, and international diplomatic stability.

Trump shared the statement on Truth Social, citing direct outreach from Iran’s newly formed regime. He described the leadership as less extreme and more calculated than previous rulers. As a result, he signaled that Washington may consider the ceasefire request under strict conditions.

However, Trump outlined key demands before any agreement could move forward. He insisted the Strait of Hormuz must reopen fully and remain secure for global shipping. This route handles a major share of global oil supplies. Until then, he warned, U.S. military operations against Iran would continue with full intensity.

Moreover, Trump reiterated that U.S. actions aimed to block Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons capabilities. He claimed this objective has already been achieved through recent strikes and strategic pressure. Earlier, he suggested the United States could disengage from the conflict within two to three weeks.

Meanwhile, Trump stated that regime change in Iran has already occurred, although it was not an official objective. He emphasized that sustained military pressure forced significant political shifts. However, independent analysts caution that these claims remain unverified and require credible confirmation.
