Israeli military chief Lt Gen Eyal Zamir has said the army remains in a “state of war” in southern Lebanon. He stated that Israeli forces are still actively operating in the region despite ceasefire claims. The remarks signal continued escalation on the northern front.
According to an Israeli army statement, Zamir made the comments during a visit near Bint Jbeil. He told commanders that operations in Lebanon are ongoing without a ceasefire. He also said Israel could resume operations in Iran “at any moment” with increased intensity.

Meanwhile, Israel has expanded its military offensive in Lebanon since Wednesday, according to reports. Lebanese Civil Defence said hundreds have been killed and over a thousand injured in the strikes. Israel has also issued warnings targeting ambulances allegedly used by Hezbollah for military purposes.
Despite reports of a two-week ceasefire announced earlier, Israel and the United States have denied that it applies to Lebanon. Rocket fire from southern Lebanon has also continued toward northern Israel. Several rockets reportedly hit or damaged buildings in border settlements.
