Deadly Israeli strikes escalate violence across Gaza and Southern Lebanon

Published on: April 12, 2026 1:35 PM

Israeli military operations intensified across Southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, leaving dozens dead and many others injured as violence continued to escalate across the region. According to officials in Beirut, at least 97 people were martyred and 133 others sustained injuries during the past 24 hours as heavy bombardment struck multiple areas in southern Lebanon. The latest attacks have deepened fears of a broader conflict while worsening humanitarian conditions for civilians living in affected communities.

Health authorities in Lebanon reported that the overall death toll from Israeli strikes since March 2 has reached approximately 2,020, while at least 6,436 people have been injured. Officials warned that the continued wave of bombardment has severely strained medical services and emergency response systems in several areas. Furthermore, many communities have been forced to cope with damaged infrastructure and growing displacement as families seek safety away from active conflict zones.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah responded to the attacks by launching missiles and drones toward Israeli military positions. The group claimed it targeted several strategic locations and reportedly destroyed an Israeli tank during one of its retaliatory strikes. These counterattacks have further heightened tensions between the two sides, raising concerns that the confrontation could expand into a wider regional conflict if hostilities continue to intensify.

At the same time, Israeli forces carried out additional strikes inside the Gaza Strip, including attacks near the Al-Bureij Refugee Camp where several civilians were reportedly targeted. In central Gaza, medical teams transported six bodies and seven injured people to Al-Aqsa Hospital for treatment. Doctors confirmed that at least four of the wounded were in critical condition, highlighting the severity of the injuries caused by the latest bombardment.

Medical sources also reported that Al-Awda Hospital received one martyred individual and two injured civilians following another incident linked to ongoing strikes. Additionally, reports indicated that a drone attack targeted tents sheltering displaced families in southern Gaza. The strike caused further suffering among civilians who had already been forced from their homes by the ongoing conflict and were seeking temporary refuge in makeshift shelters.

In another incident near Khan Younis, close to the area of Bani Suhaila, a separate strike left three people injured, adding to the growing casualty figures across the region. Humanitarian organizations warn that the continuing violence is rapidly worsening the humanitarian crisis in both Gaza and southern Lebanon. As attacks and counterattacks persist, civilians remain trapped in an increasingly dangerous environment with limited access to medical care, shelter, and essential supplies.
