Baisakhi celebrations conclude at Gurudwara Janam Asthan Nankana Sahib

Published on: April 13, 2026 9:24 AM

The 3-day Baisakhi celebrations concluded at Gurudwara Janam Asthan Nankana Sahib on Sunday. The Auqaf department administration said that Sikh pilgrims were sent to Gurdwara Sacha Sauda in Farooqabad by coaches amid tight security.

According to the district administration, the Sikh pilgrims will go to Gurdwara Panja Sahib Hassan Abdal from Gurdwara Sacha Sauda, where they will attend the main Baisakhi ceremony on April 14.

On the occasion, the Sikh pilgrims said: “We will always remember the love of Pakistan government and the people. It is pertinent to mention that 2,238 Indian Sikh pilgrims are participating in Baisakhi festival.

Separately, on the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial administration ensured swift and coordinated medical response for Sikh pilgrims arriving from across the world to participate in Baisakhi celebrations, reflecting a strong commitment to their welfare, safety, and hospitality.

According to official sources, an Indian Sikh pilgrim, Kartar Singh, suffered a heart attack during the ongoing Baisakhi festival in Nankana Sahib. The situation was immediately handled by the authorities concerned, and Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs Ramesh Singh Arora took prompt action to ensure the patient’s urgent transfer to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), Lahore, through Rescue 1122.

In close coordination with Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and on the instructions of the Medical Superintendent Dr. Amir Rafiq Butt, the patient was provided immediate and advanced emergency treatment at PIC. Hospital authorities later confirmed that the condition of the patient has stabilized and he is now out of danger.

Following the directives, Head Granthi Giani Ranjit Singh and Deputy Director Human Rights Yusuf visited the hospital to inquire after the health of the patient and presented a bouquet on behalf of the provincial minister as a gesture of goodwill and solidarity.

The patient, Kartar Singh, expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the provincial government for the prompt response and high-quality medical assistance provided in Pakistan.

Minister Ramesh Singh Arora appreciated the coordinated efforts of the Health Minister, Home Secretary Punjab, Rescue 1122, district administration, ETPB, and Additional Secretary Shrines Nasir Mushtaq, terming the response a model of inter-departmental efficiency. He said Pakistan continues to warmly welcome Sikh pilgrims as guests of honour and that all necessary medical, security, and administrative arrangements remain fully operational to ensure their comfort and safety throughout the pilgrimage period.
