Shehbaz Sharif meets Emir of Qatar after Saudi visit

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Qatar after concluding his visit to Saudi Arabia and held a meeting with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. The meeting focused on regional developments, particularly rising tensions in the Gulf, and underscored Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach in the region. The visit highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen ties with key Gulf partners.

During the meeting in Doha, both leaders discussed bilateral relations and agreed to expand cooperation in security and energy sectors. The prime minister expressed solidarity with the people of Qatar and condemned attacks on Qatar and other countries in the region. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to long-standing fraternal relations.

Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of reducing tensions and promoting dialogue for regional peace and stability. He emphasized that diplomacy and engagement remain essential tools for resolving conflicts. The Emir of Qatar also welcomed continued cooperation and coordination between the two countries.

Earlier, the prime minister was received in Doha by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation, including senior cabinet members and advisors. Pakistani flags were displayed at the airport and throughout the city in his honor.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Qatari fighter jets escorted the prime minister’s aircraft upon entering Qatari airspace as a gesture of protocol. The prime minister thanked the Qatari leadership and pilots for the warm reception. The visit is part of a broader regional tour aimed at diplomatic engagement and coordination.
