KP Assembly session at stadium causes inconvenience to public

Published on: April 23, 2026 2:22 AM

The provincial assembly session at a cricket stadium in city’s vicinity caused severe traffic congestion and difficulties for the citizens as major roads across the city remained jam packed on Wednesday.

As per details, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session was organized at the stadium, prompting authorities to block all key routes surrounding the venue as part of security arrangements. As a result, traffic flow was heavily disrupted, leading to massive gridlock in different parts of the city.

The administration also completely sealed Eid Gah Road and Shahi Bagh Road by placing barriers, which further increased the pressure on alternative routes. This led to unusually heavy traffic on other roads and widespread congestion.

Commuters, including office workers, students and patients, faced significant inconvenience due to the road closures. Many people were forced to walk long distances to reach their destinations. Authorities allowed citizens to attend the assembly session at the stadium only on foot, resulting in large crowds heading toward the venue.

In addition, several commercial areas around the stadium were shut down, causing financial losses to traders, while customers also encountered difficulties.

The situation highlights the challenges faced by residents during high-security events and raises concerns about traffic management in the city.
