The sequel is being developed as a fresh interpretation of the original story, with Dutt reprising the role that became one of the most memorable characters of his career. The film is being produced under Dutt’s banner, Three Dimension Motion Pictures, in collaboration with Aspect Entertainment, led by producer Aksha Kamboj. The production team has secured official rights from veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai and his company Mukta Arts.

A teaser shown during the announcement featured Dutt in a rugged new look, offering a glimpse of Ballu’s return to the big screen. The character, known for his rebellious persona, played a defining role in shaping 1990s Bollywood cinema and remains popular among audiences decades later.

Speaking at the launch, Dutt expressed appreciation for Subhash Ghai, crediting him for the original film’s success and confirming his continued involvement in the upcoming project. The actor also revealed that the idea for revisiting the story first came to him during his time in prison, where he discussed the concept with fellow inmates who showed strong interest in a sequel.
