According to the latest advisory, rain and thunderstorms are expected in northern and central districts including Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and Gujranwala. Weather officials also predicted showers in Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Khushab and Mandi Bahauddin as changing weather patterns continue affecting several regions of the province. Consequently, local administrations have started monitoring vulnerable areas to avoid possible emergencies.
The alert further stated that Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang and Dera Ghazi Khan are also likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall during the forecast period. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed commissioners and deputy commissioners across the province to remain on high alert and ensure immediate response to any emergency situation caused by severe weather. Rescue teams and district administrations have also been instructed to stay prepared for possible incidents related to heavy rain, strong winds and urban flooding. Moreover, officials stressed the importance of coordination among emergency departments during the weather system.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel during thunderstorms and heavy rain, especially in areas vulnerable to flooding or traffic disruptions. People were also encouraged to stay indoors during lightning activity and secure loose objects that could become dangerous during strong winds. Meanwhile, farmers and transport operators were urged to monitor weather updates carefully to reduce potential losses and operational difficulties.
Meteorological experts believe the incoming weather system could provide temporary relief from rising temperatures in several parts of Punjab after recent hot and dry conditions across the province. However, they also warned that sudden storms and intense rainfall may create short-term challenges for transportation, electricity supply and daily activities in affected districts. Therefore, authorities continue urging the public to remain alert and cooperate with local administrations during the forecast period.
