Chace Crawford clarifies gossip girl dating rumours openly

Published on: May 12, 2026 4:52 PM

Chace Crawford has finally addressed long-standing rumours about his personal life during his time on the popular teen drama Gossip Girl, setting the record straight about alleged on-set relationships. The actor spoke openly during a recent podcast appearance, where he discussed early fame, media attention and misconceptions surrounding his interactions with co-stars during the hit show’s six-season run.

During the conversation, Crawford explained that although the set environment often created social connections, he never dated any of his main co-stars. He specifically denied romantic involvement with Blake Lively or Leighton Meester, despite widespread speculation among fans and media during the show’s original broadcast period. He added that working on the series naturally involved close friendships but not romantic relationships with the main cast.

Furthermore, Crawford described the production environment as highly social, with many guest stars and industry connections frequently visiting the set. He noted that these interactions often created misunderstandings outside the set, as fans assumed on-screen chemistry translated into real-life relationships. However, he clarified that most of his connections during the show came through professional networking rather than personal dating experiences.

At the same time, Crawford acknowledged that other cast members did experience real-life relationships during filming. He pointed out that Penn Badgley and Blake Lively dated between 2007 and 2010, while Leighton Meester and Sebastian Stan also had a relationship during the same period. These relationships contributed to ongoing public interest in the cast’s off-screen dynamics throughout the show’s success.

In addition to discussing his past, Crawford also touched on his current personal life, revealing that he has been in a relationship with model Kelsey Merritt since last year. He said his focus has shifted significantly since his early career days, as he now prefers maintaining privacy while continuing his work in Hollywood projects, including his role in the hit series The Boys.

Overall, Crawford’s comments helped clarify years of speculation surrounding his time on Gossip Girl while highlighting how fame often leads to misconceptions about actors’ personal lives. His statements reinforced the difference between on-screen storytelling and real-life relationships, offering fans a clearer understanding of his experience during one of television’s most iconic teen dramas.
