Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that relations between Pakistan and the United States have strengthened during US President Donald Trump’s tenure, as both countries continue to expand cooperation in security, counter-terrorism and regional issues.

He made the remarks during a meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Paul Kapur, according to a statement issued by Pakistan’s interior ministry. The meeting was also attended by US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, Minister of State for Interior Tallal Chaudhry and other senior officials.

During the discussions, both sides reviewed Pakistan-US relations and exchanged views on the evolving situation in the Middle East. They also focused on enhancing collaboration in areas including security cooperation, counter-terrorism efforts and the fight against narcotics trafficking.
The interior ministry quoted Naqvi as saying that Pakistan-US relations are based on mutual trust and expanding bilateral cooperation. He added that security arrangements for American companies working on the Reko Diq mining project in Pakistan have been fully ensured.
Naqvi also expressed hope that direct commercial flights between Pakistan and the United States would be resumed soon, calling it an important step toward improving connectivity and people-to-people ties.
He further stated that Pakistan remains hopeful for a peaceful and lasting resolution of ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, emphasising the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in resolving international disputes.
Earlier, Paul Kapur also met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, where both sides discussed bilateral relations and regional developments.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, Dar appreciated what he described as President Trump’s “vision for peace,” including recent diplomatic efforts related to the Iran-US ceasefire understanding and high-level US engagement with Pakistan.

Both sides reportedly acknowledged the positive momentum in bilateral relations and agreed to further strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and development sectors.
Officials also highlighted the importance of continued high-level exchanges and structured dialogue to sustain progress in Pakistan-US relations, while exploring new areas of mutual interest.
