Punjab Police’s 1787 IGP Complaint Center continues to provide effective redressal of citizens’ grievances, and in continuation of these efforts, more than 34,000 complaints received at the Complaint Center during the current year have been successfully resolved.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Abdul Kareem, has said that complaints received from citizens are being resolved within the stipulated timeline in accordance with the SOPs. He said that the monitoring system has been made more active to further improve the performance of the 1787 Complaint Center. IG Punjab further said that DPOs themselves are monitoring the complaints received on the 1787 complaint system to ensure their immediate redressal.
Punjab Police spokesperson said that significant progress has been achieved in resolving complaints of various nature, including 17,249 complaints related to registration of cases and 8,270 complaints regarding delayed investigation. Similarly, 2,547 complaints related to police services, while more than 7 thousand departmental and other types of complaints, were resolved.
Furthermore, 1,781 complaints related to arrest of accused persons, 3,071 related to recovery, and 1,646 related to faulty investigation were resolved. As many as 865 complaints related to cancellation of false cases, while 537 complaints regarding change of investigation, were also disposed of.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem has encouraged citizens to register any complaint against police officials through the 1787 Complaint Center without hesitation, assuring prompt and transparent action on all grievances.
