Ambassadors, diplomats laud ICCI for promoting sports diplomacy

Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) incollaboration with Sanjraniin Group had organized cricket tournament at the F-9 Cricket Ground.

The tournament brought together ten teams from different organizations and institutions, creating an atmosphere of sportsmanship, unity, and healthy competition.

The ICCI Gladiators emerged as the champions of the tournament after delivering an exceptional unbeaten performance throughout the event.

The team won six consecutive matches and remained undefeated, showcasing remarkable teamwork, discipline, and cricketing excellence.

The grand final was played between ICCI Gladiators and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs team.

After winning the toss, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs elected to field first. ICCI Gladiators responded with an explosive batting performance, posting a massive total of 134 runs in just 6 overs.

Chasig the challenging target, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs team managed to score 77 runs, while ICCI Gladiators comfortably secured the championship trophy with an outstanding all-round performance.

ICCI Sardar Tahir Mehmood, attended the event as the chief guest. The tournament also witnessed the participation of distinguished members of the diplomatic community, including Abdul Aziz, Ambassador of Lebanon, Titus Abu Basutu, Ambassador of Zimbabwe, and Eduard Prada, Deputy Head of Mission at the Romanian Embassy.

Diplomats from Spain, Türkiye, the Czech Republic, France, Zimbabwe, and several other friendly countries also attended the event, adding an international flavor to the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, Sardar Tahir Mehmood congratulated the winning team and appreciated the efforts of all participating teams.

He stated that sports play a vital role in promoting discipline, teamwork, tolerance, and positive thinking among youth.

He emphasized that such healthy and constructive activities help strengthen social harmony, mutual understanding, and friendship among different communities and institutions. The visiting ambassadors and diplomats highly appreciated the organization of the tournament and lauded ICCI and the Sanjrani Group for promoting sports diplomacy and people-to-people connections through healthy activities.
