CDF Munir earns global acclaim for pushing forward stalled ME talks

Published on: May 26, 2026 8:56 AM

Chief of the Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir continues to earn global acclaim for his instrumental role in mediating between the United States and Iran amid prevailing tensions in the Middle East.

According to reports by US-based CBS News and other international outlets, Field Marshal Munir’s recent visit to Tehran proved crucial in advancing negotiations and bridging gaps between the two sides.

His engagements with Iranian leadership, including President Masoud Pezeshkian and senior officials, helped refine a draft proposal that was subsequently shared with both Iranian and American authorities for review.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has acknowledged significant progress, stating that a deal was nearing completion thanks in large part to Pakistan’s persistent mediation efforts.

Rubio described Pakistan as playing a key role in the negotiations, highlighting the progress achieved through ongoing diplomatic channels facilitated by Islamabad.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed his deep appreciation for Field Marshal Munir, famously referring to him as “my favorite Field Marshal.”

Trump’s consistent praise underscores the strong trust the US leadership places in Pakistan’s leadership.

This mutual confidence has been a cornerstone of the mediation process, allowing Pakistan to act as an effective and neutral bridge.

In the complex geopolitical environment of the Middle East, Pakistan has emerged as the only nation successfully able to bring the draft agreement to its current advanced stage.

Field Marshal Munir’s Tehran visit, followed by the circulation of the proposed framework, marks a significant step toward de-escalation and lasting peace.

Analysts attribute this success to the seamless harmony between Pakistan’s political and military leadership, which has provided a stable and credible platform for high-stakes diplomacy.

Pakistan’s track record of fostering dialogue, including past contributions to US-China engagements, further strengthens its position as a reliable international partner.

This latest diplomatic triumph reinforces Pakistan’s rising stature on the global stage. Under the visionary guidance of Field Marshal Asim Munir and the cohesive national leadership, Pakistan continues to champion peace, stability, and constructive engagement in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
