Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised the performance of the Ministry of Interior, law enforcement agencies, and security forces for their efforts in maintaining peace and stability in the country, protecting the lives and property of citizens, and making effective security arrangements for the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan. He stated that the government would continue taking all possible measures to promote the democratic process and ensure the conduct of transparent elections.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Federal Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi on Sunday. During the meeting, they held detailed discussions on the overall law and order and security situation in the country.
The Interior Minister briefed the Prime Minister on the special arrangements made to protect citizens’ lives and property and to ensure security at public places during Eid-ul-Adha. He also provided a detailed briefing on the preparations and arrangements made by security institutions to ensure the peaceful, transparent, and well-organized conduct of the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan. He informed the Prime Minister that a comprehensive security plan had been prepared to maintain law and order during the electoral process and to provide voters with a safe environment.
The Prime Minister commended the efforts of the Ministry of Interior, law enforcement agencies, and security forces in establishing peace and stability in the country and safeguarding the public. He also appreciated the Interior Minister and his team for ensuring effective security arrangements for the Gilgit-Baltistan elections and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continue taking all possible measures in support of the democratic process.
EU foreign policy chief due in Pakistan today for strategic dialogue
European Union High Representative on Foreign Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas will visit Islamabad on June 1 for bilateral engagements and the eighth round of the EU-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue, the EU said in a statement.
The eighth EU-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue will be co-chaired by Kallas and Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The dialogue is expected to review cooperation across a range of areas and discuss the future direction of ties between Pakistan and the European Union.
According to the EU, the meeting will provide an opportunity for both sides to assess bilateral relations under the Strategic Engagement Plan, a framework signed in June 2019 aimed at strengthening cooperation in political, economic, security and development fields.
