Salman Khan challenges film inspired by blackbuck case

Published on: June 2, 2026 6:50 PM

Bollywood star Salman Khan has reportedly initiated legal action against the makers of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, a film believed to draw inspiration from the long-running blackbuck poaching case linked to him. The move has sparked fresh debate around the project and raised questions about its future release as legal proceedings begin to unfold.

According to reports, Salman Khan’s legal team has issued a notice to the film’s producers and director, demanding an immediate halt to the movie’s release and promotional activities. The notice reportedly seeks the removal of posters, advertisements, and other marketing materials, while warning of further legal action if the requests are not addressed.

The film is being produced by Amit Jani under Jani Firefox Media Private Limited and directed by Bharat S. Shrinate. The project follows a series of productions backed by the producer that have drawn inspiration from high-profile and controversial real-life events, attracting significant public attention and discussion.

Despite the reported legal challenge, the filmmakers have continued with promotional efforts and unveiled the movie’s first-look poster. Featuring a mysterious central figure against a dramatic red-and-blue backdrop, the poster hints at an action-thriller storyline influenced by legal, political, and real-world themes. Furthermore, the production team has announced plans to release the film’s teaser on June 20.

Responding to the legal notice, producer Amit Jani alleged that the action was intended to pressure individuals associated with the project. He claimed that the notice reflected an attempt to influence the film’s progress because of Salman Khan’s celebrity status and public profile. However, neither the actor nor his legal representatives have publicly commented on these allegations.

With both sides maintaining their positions, uncertainty now surrounds the future of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy. Industry observers believe the film’s release timeline could depend on the outcome of the legal dispute, while the controversy is likely to keep the project in the spotlight in the weeks ahead.
