Blake Lively seeks damages as Baldoni dispute resurfaces

Published on: June 2, 2026 8:32 PM

Blake Lively’s legal dispute with Justin Baldoni has taken a new turn despite a settlement that resolved much of the high-profile case last month. Recent court developments indicate that Lively’s legal team intends to continue pursuing financial claims, potentially extending the conflict beyond its previously expected conclusion.

According to newly filed court documents, Lively’s attorneys are seeking what they describe as substantial damages linked to the legal battle arising from their work on It Ends With Us. In addition, her legal team is reportedly requesting that Baldoni cover legal fees and other litigation-related costs associated with the case.

The dispute began when Lively filed a lawsuit in 2024, alleging sexual harassment during the production of the film. Subsequently, Baldoni responded with a defamation countersuit, which was later dismissed by the court, narrowing the scope of the ongoing legal proceedings between the two parties.

During a recent hearing in New York, neither Lively nor Baldoni attended the proceedings in person. However, Judge Lewis Liman reportedly suggested that Lively had the option to bring the remaining aspects of the dispute to a close. Despite that observation, her attorneys signaled their intention to continue pursuing compensation claims.

Lively’s legal representatives indicated they are prepared to present expert testimony if the matter advances to a separate hearing focused on damages. Furthermore, they argue that the actress suffered reputational harm and professional setbacks as a result of the controversy, making financial compensation a key objective.

The latest filings suggest that while major portions of the original dispute have been resolved, legal questions surrounding damages remain unsettled. Consequently, the case could continue through additional court proceedings, keeping one of Hollywood’s most closely watched legal battles in the public spotlight.
