Nawaz’s visit changes political landscape in GB, says Azma

Published on: June 4, 2026 2:39 AM

Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari has said that an extraordinary level of enthusiasm is being witnessed among the people of Gilgit-Baltistan ahead of the upcoming elections, with political activity reaching its peak across the region. She stated that the arrival of Pakistan Muslim League (N) leader Nawaz Sharif in Gilgit-Baltistan has dramatically changed the political atmosphere and energized supporters.

Azma Bokhari said that the immense love, respect, and warm reception accorded to Nawaz Sharif in Gilgit reflected the genuine sentiments of the people. She added that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan continue to hold Nawaz Sharif in high regard and view Pakistan Muslim League (N) as a symbol of development, prosperity, and public service.

She said that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan are fully aware that major development projects and public welfare initiatives in the region were delivered during the tenure of PML-N governments. In contrast, she maintained that other political parties failed to meet the expectations of the people and disappointed them despite their promises.

The Information Minister further stated that PML-N candidates are running an energetic and effective election campaign and are receiving widespread public support. According to her, voter sentiment is clearly tilting toward the party’s election symbol, as people associate PML-N with progress, stability, and a better future. Azma Bokhari expressed confidence that, Insha’Allah, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan will use the power of their vote on June 7 to ensure the success of PML-N candidates. She said the party is poised to secure another victory by earning the trust and confidence of the electorate across the region.
