Published on: June 5, 2026 3:00 PM

Two sons of a tribal leader were killed in a shooting incident in Waziristan on Friday, while a passerby was injured, according to local police officials.

The incident occurred near the Karrikot Bazaar area of Wana, where unidentified armed men opened fire, resulting in the deaths of the two victims at the scene. The attackers reportedly fled the area after the shooting.

Police said a passerby was also injured during the incident and was shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. The condition of the injured person was not immediately disclosed by authorities.

Law enforcement officials responded to the scene shortly after the attack and began collecting evidence. Security measures were also heightened in the area following the incident.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Asghar Ali Shah confirmed that an investigation had been launched to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. He said efforts were underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the attack, and no group or individual has claimed responsibility. Investigators are examining various aspects of the case and gathering information from witnesses to establish the sequence of events.

Incidents of targeted violence and personal disputes have occasionally been reported in parts of the former tribal districts, prompting law enforcement agencies to increase vigilance and strengthen security measures.

Local residents expressed concern over the incident and called for swift action against the perpetrators. Police officials assured that all available resources would be utilised to track down those involved and bring them to justice.

The deaths of the two men have caused grief in the local community, where tribal leaders traditionally hold significant social influence. Authorities said further details would be released as the investigation progresses.

Police have urged citizens to cooperate with investigators and report any information that may assist in identifying the attackers and uncovering the motive behind the deadly shooting.
