Sindh reported one positive environmental sample for the polio virus out of 29 tested in June. The result was confirmed by the Sindh Emergency Operations Centre in Karachi East. The development highlights ongoing monitoring efforts to eliminate polio in the province.
According to officials, 21 samples tested negative while seven are still under analysis. The only positive detection came from Karachi East, with no other area reporting the virus. Authorities said the findings reflect improved containment across Sindh.
Health officials described the overall trend as encouraging, pointing to a decline in environmental presence of the virus. They linked the progress to coordinated vaccination drives and community cooperation. Frontline health workers were also credited for sustained field efforts.
The Sindh EOC said the reduction in positive samples shows progress in breaking virus transmission. It added that continued surveillance remains essential to prevent any resurgence. Officials stressed that vigilance is still required despite improved indicators.
Authorities urged parents to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure children receive polio drops. They also advised reliance on official sources for accurate health information. The appeal comes as Pakistan continues nationwide efforts to eradicate polio completely.
