The decision was discussed during a meeting between Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahu and representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The meeting focused on introducing e-marking, digitalisation and measures to strengthen the capacity of educational boards.
Speaking on the occasion, the provincial minister said the government plans to replace the traditional paper evaluation process with an electronic marking system. He added that a formal proposal for the project will be presented to the Sindh Cabinet for approval before implementation begins.
According to Ismail Rahu, the initiative aims to modernise the examination process, improve the accuracy of paper checking and reduce delays in announcing examination results. The project is also expected to enhance transparency and minimize the possibility of human error in the assessment process.
As part of the programme, information technology experts will provide specialized training to board staff to ensure they can effectively operate the new digital systems. The project also includes the procurement of modern equipment such as high-speed scanners, paper-cutting machines, servers and other technological infrastructure required for electronic examination management.
Officials said the adoption of digital solutions will bring Sindh’s educational boards closer to internationally recognized examination practices while improving overall administrative efficiency.
To oversee the implementation of the initiative, Karachi Intermediate Board Chairman Faqir Muhammad Lakho has been appointed as the focal person for the project. He will coordinate with relevant departments and stakeholders during the planning and execution phases.
