Firdous Jamal’s Shah Rukh Khan remarks spark fresh debate

Published on: July 9, 2026 4:04 PM

Veteran Pakistani actor Firdous Jamal has once again attracted public attention after describing Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as “a greater star than actor.” His comments came during a recent media appearance and quickly sparked widespread discussion across social media, where fans shared sharply divided opinions about his assessment.

While speaking about Shah Rukh Khan’s career, Jamal acknowledged the actor’s unmatched global popularity but questioned his acting abilities. He claimed that the Bollywood icon had several shortcomings and argued that his worldwide fame had surpassed his overall performance as an actor. Nevertheless, he recognised the enormous influence Shah Rukh continues to enjoy across the entertainment industry.

The remarks immediately generated mixed reactions online, with many users disagreeing with Jamal’s opinion and defending Shah Rukh Khan’s acting skills. Some criticised the veteran actor for making negative comments, while others highlighted Shah Rukh’s memorable performances and described him as one of the finest actors and biggest stars of his generation. However, a section of social media users supported Jamal’s viewpoint and agreed with his evaluation.

Firdous Jamal is no stranger to controversy and has often voiced strong opinions about fellow actors and the entertainment industry. Over the years, he has criticised several well-known Pakistani celebrities, including Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, while also questioning the casting of older actors in romantic lead roles. Additionally, his conservative views on women pursuing careers in showbiz have also drawn public attention.

Despite the controversies surrounding his statements, Firdous Jamal remains one of Pakistan’s most respected performers with a career spanning several decades. He has appeared in more than 300 television dramas, around 150 stage productions, nearly 200 radio plays and approximately 50 films in different regional languages. His latest remarks have once again ignited debate about the balance between stardom and acting talent in the film industry.
