A Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s western Tambov region has killed at least seven people and injured 24 others, according to Russian authorities.

Officials said the strike targeted a logistics centre in the region, where several workers were present at the time of the attack. The casualties were reported among employees working at the facility, while emergency teams were deployed to deal with the aftermath.

Videos circulating on social media showed a large fire breaking out following the attack, with thick black smoke rising into the sky. Another video showed residents being moved to safer locations after the incident.

Russian officials have accused Ukraine of carrying out the drone strike as part of its ongoing attacks against targets inside Russian territory. Kyiv has not immediately commented on the reported attack.

The incident comes amid a continued increase in drone warfare between Russia and Ukraine, with both sides frequently targeting military, energy and logistical infrastructure during the conflict.

Meanwhile, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Ukraine launched an attack involving more than 370 drones towards the Moscow region overnight. He claimed that most of the drones were intercepted and destroyed by Russia’s air defence systems.

Russian authorities have reported several similar drone attacks in recent months, while Ukrainian officials have said such operations are aimed at weakening Russia’s military capabilities and disrupting logistics supporting its war efforts.

The latest attack highlights the growing role of long-range unmanned aerial vehicles in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which has expanded beyond frontline areas into regions deep inside both countries.

Emergency services and security agencies in Russia are continuing assessments to determine the full extent of the damage caused by the Tambov strike. Further details regarding the victims and possible infrastructure damage are expected as investigations continue.
