Intezar Ahmed case: JIT holds first inquiry session

KARACHI: The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing alleged police killing of Intezar Ahmed on Friday conducted first inquiry session of the case.

Intezar’s father, Ishtiaq Ahmed, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Muqaddass Haider and witness Madiha Kiyani, who was accompanying the 19-year-old when things unfolded, were questioned by the JIT headed by SSP Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Pervaiz Chandio.

On Thursday, the JIT, consisting of representatives from Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Pakistan Rangers, Special Branch and Karachi Police was formed to investigate the teenager’s killing.

Intezar was killed after police Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) officials opened fire on his vehicle on January 14.

Earlier, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) recognised the policemen who shot dead Intezar Ahmed in DHA Karachi on 16th January. CTD revealed the name of suspected staff members of SSP Muqaddass Haider’s squad.
