Published on: January 26, 2018 5:20 PM

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar took notice of Mardan rape and murder of 4-year-old minor Asma on Friday.

According to sources, CJP took suo moto notice of Asma’s rape and murder while also ordering the Inspector General (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Salahuddin Mehsud to present a report of investigation within 24 hours.

Mehsud had confirmed on January 17 that an autopsy report revealed that the minor was raped before being strangled to death.

“Most probably the offender was a single man and his motives were sexual assault of the girl and the child was strangled afterwards,” he said.

Director General (DG) Punjab Forensic Science Agency, Ashraf Tahir also confirmed that the girl had been raped since samples of a different DNA were found in her body.

The four-year-old, whose dead body was found in the nearby fields, was raped and murdered on January 14.
