KP Police better than Punjab counterparts, says Khattak

Published on: January 31, 2018 8:07 PM

ISLAMABAD: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak on Wednesday said that the criticism on KP police due to a few cases was uncalled for and that police in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) administered province was better than that of Punjab.

Speaking to the media at the nation’s capital, Khattak stated the KP police works without any political pressure or intervention and that criticism due to Aasma Rani murder and Asma rape and murder case was unjustified.

“The KP government does not meddle in the affairs of the police and it is autonomous just like the army is. KP Police is better than Punjab Police,” CM KP said.

4-year-old Asma was raped and murdered earlier this month in Mardan, while Aasma Rani, a medical student from Kohat, was allegedly murdered for refusing a marriage proposal.

Main accused in Aasma Rani murder case, Mujahidullah Afridi remains at large, while police has arrested tens of suspects in Asma rape case, but no concrete move has yet been made.
