ISLAMABAD: National Security Committee (NSC) meeting on Friday dismissed Afghanistan’s allegations of Pakistan’s involvement in terrorist activities in the neighbouring country.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi headed the security meeting, which also included Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, National Security Adviser Lt Gen (r) Nasir Janjua, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General (r) Ehsanul Haq, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman and Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.
During the meeting, allegations against Pakistan of promoting terrorism in neighbouring Afghanistan were rejected. It was further stated that foreign elements were deliberately trying to promote such rhetoric against the country.
The committee also condemned recent terrorists attacks in Kabul, while also saying that Pakistan is willing to offer support to its neighbours on all ends. It was added that despite regional problems, the country will continue to cooperate with Afghanistan to eliminate terrorism.
The NSC meeting also discussed need for a strict Pak-Afghan border control, adding that fencing the Durrand Line is beneficial for both the countries and that Afghan government should support such a move.
