ETPB appoint Muhammad Aftab as chairman

Published on: February 2, 2018 11:26 PM

CHAKWAL: Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Additional Secretary Captain (Retd) Muhammad Aftab has been appointed Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Chairman on Friday in place of Siddiqul Farooq.

In the wake of Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan’s decision in Katas Raj Temple case, Aftab has been appointed ETPB Chairman with immediate effect for a period of three months, announced Interfaith Harmony Wing of the government.

During hearing of the suo moto case regarding Katas Raj Temple on Wednesday, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Nisar noted that the tenure of former Chairman ETPB Siddiqul Farooq had ended, however, he was still in his office, adding that appointments should not be made on personal preferences and political affiliations.

Subsequently, the SC ordered removal of Farooq as ETPB chief over his controversial appointment for the post.
