Accountability court resumes proceedings of Avenfield Properties reference case

Published on: April 2, 2018 1:30 PM

ISLAMABAD: The accountability court on Monday resumed proceedings of Avenfield properties reference filed by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and family.

Sharif along with daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar appeared before the court.

The key witness, former head of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the Panama Papers, Wajid Zia is being cross-examined by the defense counsel. Zia informed the court that the JIT’s inquiry was limited to the accessibility of the documents.

Former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif along with daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar were charged in Avenfield properties reference case (London) in September last year.

The case proceedings completed its key witness statement recording on March 27. The last proceedings conducted on March 29 brought forward Zia’s statement that no sound evidence or documents revealed that Avenfield properties were under Nawaz Sharif’s ownership, but  he claimed that Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz owned the properties from 1993-1996.
