Nawaz anticipates ‘pre-poll rigging’, says won’t accept unfair elections

Published on: April 9, 2018 3:43 PM

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif has shown reservations over the upcoming elections, fearing that they could be rigged.

On Monday, Nawaz said that Punjab government was being criticised over performance but the masses knew well about our performance in Punjab.

The former premier said that the chief justice of Pakistan was speaking the same language as opposition leaders Imran Khan and Asif Ali Zardari.

He has made these remarks just a day after the Supreme Court summoned the National Accountability Bureau’s prosecutor general on April 14 to look into the hiring of individuals from the private sector as well as foreign experts in the Punjab Saaf Pani Company.

Earlier, he said that the high-profile Panama Papers case verdict had caused the pace of progress to slow down in Pakistan. He also said that the decline in the value of rupee was due to uncertainty in the country.

Replying to a question, he said that he would consult with his lawyers on the proposal of live broadcast of accountability court proceedings as last week, Maryam Nawaz had demanded in a tweet last week.
