Shehbaz holds interim govt responsible for ‘rain-lashed Lahore’

Published on: July 3, 2018 10:34 PM

LAHORE: Many on social media have come down hard on the former government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz as heavy rainfall has brought the provincial capital to a standstill.

However, Punjab former chief minister Shehbaz sharif holds the provinces’ caretaker government responsible for the miserable situation of the city after the rain.

Addressing media at his constituency NA-132, the former CM said the interim government was not prepared to deal with the rain.

Apparently hinting towards Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan’s visit to rain-affected areas of Lahore, Shehbaz said few individuals came out to observe the city’s condition 16 hours after the rain.

“I along with ministers and officers used to be on roads during rain when we were in government,’’ he said.

At least eight people have reportedly been killed in rail-related accidents.

Punjab interim Chief Minister Hassan Askari announced  Rs.0.8 million to the affected families.
