Babar Awan resigns as PM’s advisor on parliamentary affairs

Published on: September 4, 2018 8:37 PM

ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan has resigned from his post after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) initiated corruption inquiry against him.

Babar took to twitter to announce that he has sent his resignation to Prime Minister Imran Khan and ‘will defend himself in the court’.

— Babar Awan (@BabarAwanPK) September 4, 2018

The PTI leader, in his hand-written resignation, said “I am resigning as advisor to PM so as to prove baseless allegations of NAB wrong”.

He said it’s not appropriate for him to stick to the post, adding ‘rules of law’ begins with him.

On Tuesday, the NAB  filed corruption reference against Babar Awan and others regarding the delay in Nandipur project.
