Published on: September 4, 2018 9:49 PM

LARKANA: The Writers Club (WC), Larkana has completed century of holding monthly literary program regularly.

After completing 100th Mushaira which was held at Bhittai Adabi Hall of Arts Council of Pakistan here on Tuesday, shields were awarded to the poets who constantly attended the meetings and read out their creative poetry.

The program was presided over by noted story and drama writer Manzoor Kohiyar. While addressing the participants he said literature produces humanity among the people. “Where there is literature there cannot be devastation,” he added.

He said literature teaches correct usage of a language and literary activities create healthy society. He said foundation of WC was laid down at the Otaq (Dera) of noted Sindhi writer Ayaz Qadri in 1996 and its first president was Suhail Makani and he himself was its general secretary.

WC Secretary Inayat Memon said that monthly Mushaira was exactly launched in 2006 from Nizamani Labour Hall which even continued at different places in the city. He said they faced various difficulties and hurdles, but did not bow down before anyone remained firm and continued their literary sittings and gatherings.

Shields and certificates were distributed among poets who not only attended the meetings regularly at the end of the cermoney.
