Zardai, Bilawal express grief over Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s demise

LAHORE: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal bhutto Zardari and co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari met former primer Nawaz Sharif to extend condolences on the demise of former three time first lady Begum Kulsoom Nawaz.

The PPP heads were accompanied by a PPP delegation during their visit to Jati Umrah.

Bilawal and Zardari expressed their sadness over the passing of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz and shed light on her life and struggles she faced.

Asif Ali Zardari said that Kulsoom Nawaz was a brave and strong women and added that her sacrifices for democracy and the country will not be forgotten.

Kulsoom Nawaz passed away on Tuesday after a prolonged battle with lymphoma (throat) cancer since August 2017 and was under treatment at London’s Harley Street Clinic since June 2014.

Her funeral prayer was led by Tableegi Jamaat’s Maulana Tariq Jameel on Friday, who was driven to the venue, Sharif Medical Complex, by Nawaz Sharif, who along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar were released from Adiala Jail on parole to join Begum Kulsoom’s burial rites.

Nawaz’s younger brother and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif also came in the same car.
