LAHORE: Indian renowned poet, lyrist and scriptwriter Javed Akhtar and his wife veteran actress Shabana Azmi on Thursday arrived Lahore to attend Faiz International Festival.

The couple entered Pakistan via Wagah border to attend the two-day Faiz International Festival at Alhamra Hall, Lahore.

The Indian couple was warmly welcomed by the daughters of Faiz Ahemd Faiz Muneeza Hashmi and Salma Hashmi at the Wahga border.

Akhtar and Azmi also met Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar and Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan, who presented the visitors with a bouquet of roses.

Akhtar while meeting with Punjab Governor said that they were bringing the message of peace and love from across the border.

Azmi also expressed her desire for peace between Pakistan and India, and thanked the citizens of Lahore for inviting them. She said the neighbouring countries should increase people-to-people contact.

The two-day Faiz International Festival will be hed in Lahore from November 18 to 20.
