Federal Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed on Sunday announced that the Pakistan Post would start its ‘Express Mail Service (EMS) Plus’ service from today (Monday) after its extension to 50 countries.
“The state enterprise is all set to launch ‘EMS Plus’ parcel delivery service, which allows nationals to post goods to 50 countries at affordable rates.”
While making the announcement, Murad Saeed said the goods would be transported to 50 states within 72 hours after its extension. He revealed that the state enterprise was expanding the service across the globe after its successful operation in seven countries.
He said that the parcel delivery charges would be significantly lesser than other private courier companies. He announced that the service at Pakistan Post franchises across the countries would be activated in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). It is pertinent to mention here that NADRA and the Pakistan Post had signed an agreement to improve service at postal offices across the country on February 22. The latest launch would promote exports, e-commerce and online businesses in line with modern techniques for courier and parcel delivery services in the country, said the minister.
The minister hoped that the number of franchises would be increased to more than 15,000 within the next few months after improvements and developments being brought in the state entity.
Minister says people will now be able to post goods to 50 countries at affordable rates
On March 6, Murad Saeed had said that the Pakistan Post had a huge network across the country and due to its vast infrastructure, private courier services were seeking help from it.
While briefing the Senate, the minister said the Pakistan Post had increased the number of E-Sahulat franchises to 15,000 across the country with the help of NADRA. He said that due to radical steps, the revenue of the department had increased to 212 percent.
The minister said that despite many hurdles, his team was taking necessary steps to bring the Pakistan Post on a par with other private courier services. “We have made electronic money order system more efficient in the last four months,” he said, and added that the Pakistan Post was now heading toward e-commerce.
