Dengue spikes in Rawalpindi: 17 new cases reported

Published on: September 12, 2025 9:31 PM

Dengue continues to spread in Rawalpindi, with 17 new cases reported on Friday. This brings the total to 286 cases since July. The rise in cases shows that the situation remains serious despite ongoing health department efforts. Officials said that the virus is affecting more areas with each passing week. The public is being urged to take extra precautions to avoid mosquito bites.

Currently, 26 patients are receiving treatment at different hospitals in Rawalpindi. Health officials confirmed that most patients are stable and under observation. However, more beds and medical staff may be needed if the numbers rise. Hospitals have been instructed to stay on high alert for new patients. The government is also monitoring the situation through regular updates.

Earlier, several dengue larvae were found in various parts of the city. These findings led to targeted fumigation and awareness drives. The health department had claimed preparations were complete to fight dengue. But the increasing number of cases shows gaps in the prevention efforts. Citizens have reported that many areas still lack regular spraying.

In response to the current surge, officials plan to intensify anti-dengue operations. These include door-to-door awareness campaigns and removing stagnant water. Special focus will be given to schools, parks, and construction sites. Authorities are also warning residents not to ignore mild symptoms like fever and body aches. Early detection remains key to controlling outbreaks.

While the government works to contain the situation, public cooperation is essential. People must cover water containers and clean their surroundings regularly. Without joint action, the virus could spread further in the coming weeks. Health experts have called for a unified response. Everyone must act now to avoid a full-blown health emergency.
