Sindh a land of saints, peace, tolerance: Minister Khichi

Published on: January 22, 2026 6:07 AM

Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi said the federal government would take comprehensive measures in collaboration with the Sindh government to preserve and promote the province’s rich culture and heritage.

Talking to APP after visiting the shrine of renowned Sufi poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) in Bhit Shah, the minister said Sindh was the land of saints, and Sufi scholars, where the message of love, tolerance and peace had been passed down from generation to generation. He said his visit to the shrine brought him spiritual peace and inner happiness, adding that the atmosphere of this place was beyond words.

The federal minister laid a ‘Chadar’ at the shrine, offered Fateha and prayed for the security, unity and prosperity of the country and the nation.

Aurangzeb Khichi said Sindh’s culture enjoys a distinguished position across the world due to its vastness and beauty. He noted that the traditional dress, lifestyle, language, music and Sufi traditions of Sindh were a valuable part of Pakistan’s national identity. He added that Shah Latif’s message of love continues to unite hearts and promote harmony in society.

The minister reiterated that the federal government would continue to work shoulder to shoulder with the provincial government for the protection and promotion of Sindh’s cultural heritage. He also appreciated the joint efforts of the Sindh Archaeology and Culture Department and other institutions in safeguarding the province’s historical heritage.

Later, the federal minister listened to Shah Latif’s poetry in the shrine’s premises, whose soulful melodies further enriched the Sufi ambience, and also visited various sections of the shrine.
