The Lahore Arts Council Alhamra curated a refined and intellectually resonant literary evening dedicated to distinguished women prose writers, celebrating the strength, sensitivity and depth of contemporary Urdu prose.
The event featured eminent writers Neelum Ahmed Bashir, Sofia Baidar and Naveen Roma, whose literary contributions continue to shape modern narrative discourse. The proceedings were gracefully conducted by acclaimed writer Amna Mufti, whose articulate moderation added coherence and intellectual rhythm to the evening. During the discussion, Amna Mufti shared insights into her ongoing novel inspired by her grandmother’s life and read selected passages that left a deep impression on the audience. Her thoughtful analysis of prose writing, delivered with clarity and literary finesse, was widely appreciated. Sofia Baidar, while expressing her views, stressed that prose readings should be institutionalized in the same manner as poetry recitals to strengthen the direct bond between writer and reader.
